Exactly, I think you’re phrasing better what exactly my problem is with this. It’s the whole forced nature of the whole deal. Growing up, I knew about my grandparents’ older brothers who served in WWII. I sure as hell respected them. But it was never forced on me. And as I said, the fixation on the military and the police makes us forget our other heroes too. I have no problem saying this but teachers have directly impacted me far more than people who have seen combat.
Thanks, but I struggle to express my repellence at the whole thing. And not to mention there’s a subtle, sometimes not so subtle, racial angle to the whole thing, “angry” white politicians and fans demanding that the mostly black players do something or not do the other thing.
