The old Dal Moline airstrip at the edge of Caldogno has been turned into the largest base in Europe. They changed my old village irrevocably in the process, and the locals fought it until bought off.

Yeah, and that base space has been filled with the expansion of the 173rd. Caserma Ederle was bursting at the seams when we activated the brigade’s second infantry battalion in 2001. Caserma Del Din was at copacity as soon as it opened. The brigade still has two battalions in Germany @ Grafewoehr, 1/91st Cav & 4/319 FA. If there was space, they would have moved south years ago
