Over here in England the Tories are quite centrist at the moment (disclosure: I am a member of the tories), and are at the moment enjoying some success. Yesterday we got nearly twice the votes Labour did, and all predictions have us winning over parliament by at least 30 MPs.

Word of advice to republicans:

After 1997, we were decimated, and spent 8 years being far more right wing, more “pure”, than ever before. We lost 3 straight elections. Under David Cameron we have become a modern conservative party, although it has taken time, and is still an ongoing project.

Parties win elections by finding new converts, not by pointing out heretics. At the moment I feel the republicans are interested in the latter.
