Of course, these nitwits ignore that the President said that the US is already on course to meet those goals without any additional effort - based on the EPA regs to reduce emissions by 30% from the 2005 levels by 2030. That’s not as tough as it sounds, as the shift to low/no emission energy sources is accelerating and the recession meant more companies began emphasizing efficiencies.

The GOP, on the other hand, is rearing its ugly anti-science head to roll back the EPA regulations (making the air dirtier and making the US less efficient in the long run).

But as we mentioned yesterday, next year’s GOP-controlled Congress will seek to undermine those EPA rules. As the New York Times adds, “While the agreement with China needs no congressional ratification, lawmakers could try to roll back Mr. Obama’s initiatives, undermining the United States’ ability to meet the new reduction targets.”
