Most likely outcome of a Trump nomination is that the GOP loses the Senate, and the GOP majority in the House is reduced, but they remain in control there. With gerrymandering, I don’t see how the GOP loses the House.

True, odds are pretty strong that the House will remain in GOP hands. But the most likely victims of a Trump-inspired purge are likely to be those “moderates” in purple and blue states who cannot do enough to disassociate themselves from Trump. Which means the House we tune into next year will likely be even more of a clusterfuck (if such things are possible) as the “Freedom Caucus” starts ratcheting up the pressure on Ryan (or his successor) to do their bidding.
