The first Fire tablet I got a while back was a good Android device but seriously limited because it couldn’t use the Google Play web store. I don’t know if it was deliberate on Amazon’s part, but the newer Fire tablets can get into Google Play just fine, so you can basically use almost any app written for Android.

I had to hack mine before I could get Google Play to side load on mine. But by the same token it is really nice once that’s done.
