I can’t say this is all of the reason he’s doing this, but it strikes me that it’s the perfect way to avoid responsibility while asserting a right to take credit.

Physicians aren’t going to prescribe the meds to people on a whim as a prophylactic, and as treatment it’s only being used as a last resort in some cases where it may or may not be a contributor to recovery. Anecdotes and urban myths about its efficacy will travel faster than clinical work saying that it doesn’t work (or works conditionally), so the idea that it has value can be floated in the popular information sphere of social media.

It’s therefore safe to characterize as a miracle drug that Trump has found for his people, but that a conspiracy is keeping from them.

Are you sure? Why was there a shortage where people who need it (for lupus, etc.) Couldn’t get it?
