Her “credibility” doesn’t matter to her; if it did she would have declined the naked power grab. She is a conservative and a Christian; she only cares about gaining and expanding power, that’s it. She’s on the Supreme Court. She’s there until she dies, retires, or is somehow removed.

The same goes for the Chief Justice. For someone who is constantly touted being concerned about his “legacy,” it sure seems the only legacy he is concerned with is consolidating conservative power.

There is a hint of a point that Kristol makes though… a smarter/more strategic/more astute/more long term thinker would recognize that being “too political” in this way could open the door to Dems expanding the Supreme Court as part of a larger court modernization bill. A larger court would dilute the power of the individual justices, so even in a very game theory personal power sort of way, this is not the way a justice should comport themselves.
