Your parents were homophobic and lived in San Fran? How does that work out? From that perspective, they couldn’t have chosen a worse place to live!

There aren’t actually that many gay people as a percentage of the population and they tend to live highly concentrated in the Castro.

Now, I’m happy to say, there’s a big mansion flying the rainbow flag on the same block as my parents.

My parents aren’t hater homophobes. They’re just “That’s unnatural” homophobes who have a screwed up religious idea about sex anyway. They’re very conflicted on gay marriage, for example, they like the commitment of it but they’re all freaked out about the word and stuff.

But it’s very low down on their list of priorities, way down below poverty and education and all that jazz.
