One approach is to not put a limit on the upper income that can taxed for the SS payroll tax.

And, the retirement age has not yet been changed the amount you state, I believe; it’s a proposal. There was a change in early retirement, IIRC. A while back I posted a link to the SS trustees’ latest report, and that will have the answers. But now I have to run out the door… will have to look at this later.

The bottom line is that the current payroll tax may have to be increased, a little. It doesn’t have to go up much to get SS a few more decades.

Yes, the retirement age has been changed. Mr. C. was eligible at 66.
