As a kid, I was never into superhero comics at all and only read some Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck…so the entire generation of Marvel and DC-based films is entirely wasted on me.

That’s the reaction of most people in China to American superhero flicks and to Star Wars and Star Trek flicks. They don’t have the cultural context, so the flicks make little sense to them. But Wonder Woman was a hit, especially among my female students. They liked seeing a woman kick some ass.
