Yeah, I didn’t call him racist. I am a clueless middle aged white person so I am likely messing this up, but I watched this video:

and Jay Smooth says to keep in mind the difference between saying someone sounds racist and saying they are racist. And the reason we are all so freaked out* by calling out things that sound racist is that people feel like they have to defend themselves from being a horrible thing rather than saying something perhaps out of line.

I promised myself that I would call out comments that seem racist to me. So I felt I had to woman up and do it. Even though I am a nobody lurker and the person I called out has six-figure karma.

* I had to sign out and go for a long walk after I made my first comment because I was having a mini panic attack.
