Why is anyone shocked? Why would anyone care that they got bonuses? Why, if they are the ones that ran it into the ground, are we surprised even slightly that after giving them more money they didn’t spend it where we thought they should? How is it we keep the same bafoons in charge after they run a company into the ground? This is just fine. Hell, give them a mid year bonus as well as far as I’m concerned. All the money they recieve will not fix the company. It will not buy them values or morals or ethics. It will not by them better business sense. It will not make them better people or AIG a better company. If we give them money, whether they burn it or buy Ferrari’s, who cares. We are the stupid ones.
