Using the FBI’s tables for 2008, Arizona seems to come in 21st for overall violent crime per capita, behind all the other border states, closest to Massachusetts and Alabama in its overall numbers.

Basically, whatever problems they may be having, I’m calling bogus on the idea of an out-of-control level of violence. They’re in the middle of the pack as far as the US is concerned.

Yep. Seems safer than Colorado. My initial link to the Statemaster homicide numbers had Arizona at #22.
