We handed the fight to the Taliban in ‘01 when we sunk ourselves into a war we couldn’t win and that wouldn’t return any benefits even if we’d miracuously “won.”

In voting for Obama this was my largest policy disagreement with him, that he wanted to double down on the Afghan war when the only winning move was to build a time machine and convinces ourselves not to have begun it.

Horseshit. After 9/11, we had to run the Taliban out of power. If we had not done so, we would have looked intolerably weak.
