I think when (and I do think it’s likely over the next two election cycles) the GOP and the TP/Cons lose Texas, that’s the end of the modern conservative movement. The GOP as a national party really has no long-term prospects without Texas. They’ll have to cut the TP/Cons loose.

The freakout at that moment will be epic.
