I decided to check on Rage Furby’s California complaint against Gawker. It is still dragging on, as it seems he keeps delaying appearing for a show cause order.

Now the hearing is scheduled for March 22, almost a year after the original one, IIRC.

Chuck filed this cockamamie complaint pro se, but now it seems he has found a lawyer to represent him. I downloaded the lawyer’s response to the show cause order, arguing in part that plaintiff did not make his appearance because:

19. Plainfiffs’ counsel, despite having entered his appearance, was not issued notice thereof; The Clerk’s Certificate of Mailing shows it was mistakenly mailed by The Clerk To Plaintiff Charles C. Johnson personally and it was not
mailed at all to Plaintiff Got News, LLC. Thus, Plaintiffs’ counsel lacked notice of the June 15, 2017 proceedings.

Chuck and his wife are, as far as I know, the only partners in the LLC, so it puzzles me how delivering the notice to Johnson’s personal mail address would be any kind of excuse.
