Just came across this on CNBC. This is an example of a near perfect cover letter according to “Harvard Career Experts”. I’m interested to get the Lizard communities take on it:

Personally, I think it’s a little too ass-kissy and it also seems to me this person is a somewhat overqualified for this sales job.

A letter like that would be a “put on the bottom of the pile and only call if it’s the last possible candidate for the position” situation for me as a manager. Even if they’re a good worker, they’ll be looking for something better from day one and giving their all to that not to the job at hand.
