I thought it was the other way round: I had read an analysis somewhere* that the Admin had wanted to push Doug Collins for the vacated Senate seat, but Georgia’s Gov. Brian (“coronavirus can be transmitted??”) Kemp put Loeffler in the job because she was one of his fundraisers/cronies from Atlanta, and he was trying to build up his own little political machine in GA.

Anyway, the voters of Georgia have a chance to boot her this fall: she has to run in the general to confirm her seat (filling out the retired Johnny Isaakson’s term til 2022). Actually, they have a chance to boot two Senators (David Perdue is also up).
