Funny, not just because they can’t spell. If everyone that wanted to control women cared about adopting available children, there wouldn’t be hundreds and hundreds of kids waiting to be adopted in every state.

This was a plot point in The Handmaid’s Tale. Handmaids were forced to conceive and give birth and their children given away to Commanders’ families. But even Margaret Atwood had to create the premise of a worldwide infertility pandemic for this to be feasible. Also, they didn’t get around to telling us “Commanders’ wives don’t want Handmaids of color” until season 3, when the book was very clear that there were no Black people in Gilead.
