Also, Central Americans and South Americans’ “Spanish” can be mostly Aztec, Inca, or other indigenous languages, making it hard for we Spanish speakers to sometimes understand our southern neighbors, who may not even READ or WRITE standard Spanish.

I find it tends to be either/or. Either they speak Spanish quite well (although the accent can be tough), or they speak an indigenous language and little Spanish.

(BTW, it’s “Nahuatl” and “Quechua” (or “Runa Simi”), respectively, not “Aztec” and “Inca”.)
