re: #189 lawhawk
That reminded me of the good folks up in Rogers, AR.
This cool, wet summer has fewer people watering their lawns, and the poor economy has companies using less water (in addition to fewer commodities in general). Revenues to the water company are down. Solution?
Raise water rates.
Will the rates fall when demand picks back up? I doubt it.
Government makes a mistake, so the people must pay.
“We didn’t do a very good job of anticipating our drop in demand,” McAlister said. “We anticipated our expenses very well. Our margins were really thin anyway. We always tried to keep our water rates really low because people need water to live.”
