A little thought experiment. A family of sadistic maniacs kidnaps you one day while you’re at the mall. They take you home, lock you in the basement, physically and verbally abuse you, force you to work, rape you, beat you and never let you out.

After a few days/weeks/months of this, you realize that the only way to escape is to kill the dad, mom, and their two teenage kids (since they’re in on the whole operation.) What would you do?

That’s not the situation, though. When did we start talking about ‘teenagers’ who are in on the whole operation? Do you think Nat Turner only killed those in their teens and up? Or that he only killed slaveowners?
