I’ve seen people blathering online that Tamir Rice brought the shooting on himself because there was no parental discipline at home. If he’d had discipline then he would’ve known not to wave a toy gun around or something.

It’s amazing what people will forgive as long as it’s not their kid.

Kids play with toy guns all the time. I recall having one of those cap gun revolvers as a kid. Now, a kid playing with the same kind of toy gun (similar to which are widely available in Toys r Us, Walmart, Target, and any number of other outlets), who is of the wrong pigmentation will end up on a slab because the cops decide to shoot first.

What’s unforgiveable is that the cops opened fire first and didn’t bother to talk with the kid. They rolled up on him and started shooting the moment they exited the vehicle. Rice had no chance.

I doubt anyone would have had a chance under the same circumstances. Especially if they weren’t white.
