It’s set in a gangster movie but the New York in Godfather II is perhaps my favorite immigration scene in a movie ever. I always imagine my mom’s grandparents watching this scene as they emigrated around this same era.

My mom’s parents were among those people, too. Their names are listed in the Ellis Island museum archives. My paternal grandmother’s family settled in Saskatchewan, so they were also immigrants but probably missed the whole NY Harbor experience.
