Yep it’s how he got the DNC’s attention. Personally they did the right thing replacing Henry Wallace with Truman. McCarthyism would have been even worse had you had Wallace.
Probably quite true. If Wallace had become President when Roosevelt died in 1945, it would be really likely (among other eventualities) that he would have been soundly defeated by Thomas Dewey in 1948. Which would likely have meant an Administration probably dominated by the hardcore old-line-isolationist wing of the GOP. Who would have probably gone all-in on Tailgunner Joe’s red-baiting from a position of power, rather than opposition. Not a pleasant scenario.
