Can you produce your “original certificate”? Nope. No one can, because there is no such thing. It’s a demand framed in such a way that it is guaranteed to fail. Your birth certificate is simply a state-certified piece of paper averring that the state has such records on file - that’s all anyone gets, no matter who they are or what sort of request is made. Period. End of story.

Not only has Obama produced this document - the only such document he could possibly possess - the state has taken the exceptional step of verifying that the information contained on it is, just as is stated on the document and as is explicitly confirmed by the state seal, in fact, correct.

This is turning into the Right’s version of Bush’s Air Force records, with the same howling, gnashing of teeth, rending of hair and garments, and endless elaboration of vast, endless conspiracies that the loons on the Left applied in that case.

In both cases, there’s nothing to see here. Let’s just hope some guy wearing a tinfoil hat with a box full of UFO abduction stories doesn’t show up claiming to have proof of 0’s birth somewhere else; in keeping with the parallel, it will end Glen Beck’s career.

Not that that would be a bad thing.
