Is it really a federal requirement that I produce a physical original or certified copy of my birth certificate for employment? My last job, since HR was in California and I was here in Texas I just got my uncle to scan my birth certificate and save it into a PDF, which I emailed to HR. They were fine with it and never asked for a physical document any of the times I traveled to the office.
I’m being told my by new employer that they need a physical document so now I have to go spend money and time at the Vital Statistics office for no goddamn reason. Why isn’t the same scanned document good enough? Blah.
