Sure do remember Dad hated A1 and he sure loved HP sauce. He picked up that love of HP when he worked at the Charleston Navy Yards during the war. British officers were so impressed with his quick repair work they gave him a bottle. Dad put a dab of HP on a burger and he was hooked!

Haven’t used HP Sauce here at home (haven’t tried to find it here locally in Nashville, though I’m sure someone carries it), though I did taste some whilst dining at Eat My Pasty (best damn fish and fries/chips I’ve ever had, bar none; even the cole slaw was fantastic) while in PCB back in June (and I’ll be back down there in about three weeks); it seems like A1 but better, with a bit of a kick.
