Checks and balances sufficed to get rid of Nixon, before the entire GOP was insane. Now that the GOP is insane, there is no such action vs. t**** yet (maybe this happens, maybe it doesn’t).

But realistically, no system of checks and balances will suffice if a large enough part of the electorate remains crazy enough for an extended period of time.

it is difficult to be patient in the short run — watching further damage and destruction - some of which will not be undo-able, not being able to stop it…

…while things churn hopefully and inevitably towards the correcting check and balance in the long run
