I fully admit I dropped away from the Catholic Church back in the mid-70s, but I did attend 12 years of Catholic school and have always been politically aware.

I have never heard of natural law explained it should be imposed on governance and society.

Sure, they have pushed hard on abortion issues which I think they should keep out of politics and within their church as in their people should practice their teachings. But you make it sound like Catholics want to influence all law and I just don’t think that is so.

What I’ve read on natural law, and It’s been a while, is that we all have certain rights by virtue of being human, and that those rights can be understood via the application of reason. Natural law is, arguably, the basis of the concept of universal human rights. So of course, the Trump administration would be opposes
