Actually, now that I think about it, I could totally see Repubs trying to do what they’ve done in the past: Float a bill that is strictly about defense funding/troop pay, then grandstanding about how Dems are holding troops “hostage.” That if they’d just agree to bring impeachment to an end, that funding and all the other bills Americans “want” would quickly move towards Donny’s desk.

Pelosi would just pass the troop bill right alongside the main budget and then let McConnell explain, again, why he’s refusing to hold a vote on a budget resolution that would pass with overwhelming support.
