re: #198 HappyWarrior

I think about the 1924 Immigration Act a lot since it was targeted at people like my momā€™s grandparents. Momā€™s grandparents were all here by then fortunately but my momā€™s maternal grandmother as she was my great grandfatherā€™s second wife emigrated last. My familyā€™s emigration ranges from Washingtonā€™s first term to 1921 or if you want to include my SiLā€™s family in my lifetime. All that has given me a lot to think about my family and emigration.

It is that Act under which ā€œLaw and Orderā€ Representative Steve King wants to rescind my citizenship.

I posited that question on my citizenship to my village attorney (a Republican) and he opined that would be an ex-post facto law. I noted though that the Republicans have long sought to remove birthright citizenship protections from the XIV Amendment for non-slave descendants. He said he would get back with me. That was three months ago.
