note without a usps, the us government would have to use ups, fedex, etc for everything. and change a shitload of laws regarding legal notice etc.

for just one, the irs, sends checks, notices, legal dox, etc.
imagine the new cost of sending a $2.00 refund check.
they’d also lose the legal cover of certified mail proving delivery before seizing property etc

multiply that by every agency/department/function. their budget lines would skyrocket.

fedex/ups negotiate special rates for the government? yeah right.
