One of them, or possibly both, is lying through their teeth about how close this friendship is.

The level of actual personal affinity doesn’t make any difference anyways. Most of these world leaders probably don’t like each other much on a personal level but they have business to attend to. Israel will continue to keep bipartisan support.
One of the rare exceptions is Obama and Sarkozy. Both of them light up when they get together and start goofing around.
