There’s a house in the Bay Area that used to be famous for having TONS of pink flamingos in the yard. To the point that it was written up in guidebooks and whatnot.

They’re all gone now, but it was still kind of fun.

I admire folks who can pull off color like that. All the walls in our house are white, in part because I’m scared to try doing vivid colors on the walls. But at the same time, I sort of want to, on at least one wall (or in a nook somewhere… next house).

Just to be clear, they weren’t ‘pulling off color like that’. It was garish and painful and a little disturbing. It was meant to offend the neighbors, the neighbors who were long-term, large-scale alcoholics yet loudly complained about about the ‘trash’ that’d moved in next door.

(eta: hence the pink elephants. The large, indian elephant size pink elephants.)
