DC-Metro (DMV) area it is the same, kinda. All natural predator have been eliminated and human habitation generates a huge amount of forest edge. Deer proliferate, then starve in the winter. They wander through my neighborhood in family groups with just about zero fear of human. And, they eat my Hostas and other plants.

During the season, Daughter1 sits in a tree stand with a laptop editing Other People’s Novels. When one of our small Alabama deer wanders into range, she kills it for her family. She is not a hunter, she is a predator.
