This is so infuriating.

Please note this girl killed herself mere days after the Davis School District and the Department of Justice came to a settlement over harassment in the district.

I hated school because I got bullied—it’s only as an older adult that I realize how much I got bullied. My heart is breaking that a little girl was being bullied so much she thought death would be better. I want to slug people but I know I can’t.

I got picked on occasionally in elementary school and high school. Nowhere near what other people have gone through, but enough to empathize with the victims. To this day, I still tense up when someone is getting bullied in a tv show or movie.

It’s also why I get angry with the whole “Just ignore them” or “Just get over it” advice people often dispense in these situations. Because 99.9% of the time, the people dealing out those bullshit platitudes either have never had to deal with bullying, or did it themselves at some point.
