I think the other part of it is the part of the GOP that is sick of the tea party. I have to wonder about the money interests, many of whom depend on real science e.g. petroleum, chemicals/materials, etc., take to this anti-science stance. I hope they speak up, because they are on a collision course with this monster they created.

The money and foreign policy oriented parts of the GOP have never been hot on the Tea Party. They loved how it picked the GOP off the floor after its 2008 drubbing, but they want it as a path back to power. But if partnering with the Tea Party looks likely to lead to financial or foreign policy disaster, then those non-socon parts of the party will rebel. As part of the foreign policy element, I’ll be one of the rebels.

But if I’m going to be a rebel, my mother’s family’s North Carolina heritage means I’ll have to learn to whistle ‘Dixie’ first. /in jest
