Even without passing any gun control, howzabout the National Association of Broadcasters adopt some guidelines to what’s considered responsible? The First Amendment only applies to what the government can do, it certainly doesn’t prohibit the NAB from granting/withholding reasonable Standards.

Glenn Beck rants about FEMA camps, and one of his fans is caught skulking around a national guard base, fully armed, looking to make trouble. He makes up a bunch of crap about the Tides Foundation, and one of his fans gets into a shootout with the highway patrol on his way to the TF office where he was planning to kill everyone. Rush Limbaugh… maybe it’s totally coincidental that he was raving about Bane/Bain/Hollywood conspiracy/President wants to dismantle everything good about the country… but he’s certainly gone out of his way to foment race hatred at every possible opportunity. And do I have to list the number of outrages Erick Son of Eric perpetrates every time he opens his mouth? Or Dana Loesch? Or dozens more mouthbreathers?

Nothing anyone can do about a guy with his own internet outlet, but some stations… respectable broadcast outlets… might actually care about an NAB Seal of Approval for their headliners.

Actually, i don’t think CNN or FNC would care one bit about what a broadcast association thinks. Both stations go out over cable and satellite, so they are not ‘broadcast’ stations. Moreover, weirdos making a big DERPy splash draws people to watch a TV program. The newsnets are airing what people tend to watch.
