Carter’s failures as president include a foundering economy and ultimately the Iran hostage situation.

But Carter’s post presidency actions are admirable and should be emulated by all. A lifetime of giving, including as it relates to Habitat for Humanity is something that presidents can look up to, including GHWB - who followed a similar path with charitable work to help disaster victims.

I have come to think that Carter was in many ways too kindly a man for the job. And many others here and abroad knew exactly how to exploit that. He had the will, the intelligence and a deeply held morality/ethical outlook. An outlook he could forward without a burden of religion.
