I do not get the roulette wheel that is the stock market.

this is just the typical consolidation after a heavy down day. Almost everything that happens on the DOW is computer driven now. Very little of what you see is actually people making informed decisions about what to buy or sell. Instead, it is just computer-driven trading, which makes trying to understand what is going on almost pointless.
