I have to say, though, that Blizzard is in a tough spot here. They literally cannot afford to lose the Chinese community, so they’re basically playing it safe. It’s highly likely that nobody at Blizzard actually agrees with the Chinese, but this is a strictly business decision that is really unfortunate. It sucks most of all because I love Blizzard games and I agree with the boycott, despite the circumstances.

I seriously doubt that Blizzard was in any real danger of losing access to the Chinese market because of what one professional gamer in Hong Kong said. From what I can tell they didn’t even wait for Beijing to say anything, they just preemptively shit themselves in fear and banned the guy. It’s outrageous.
