The one thing I remember from the book was that if you’re traveling with your husband, never give directions or tell him you’re going the wrong way. How does being lost for hours help anything?

Because getting lost on the road may inconvenience you for a few hours, perhaps: but “getting lost” on the path of Perfect Christian Wifehood by presumptuously correcting one’s Perfect Christian Husband will imperil your immortal soul, and those of all your family?

NOTE: I am being sarcastic here (partly) - but I’m sure this exact argument has been - and will continue to be - made in all seriousness.
