Nope…I was Pre-Comm and had the SWG-1. Also had a tour of a big time civilian from Boeing…so, as JG, when he asked me what I thought about the layout of same, I proceeded to tell him I thought some boneheaded engineer blew it putting the safe/arm light under the panel cover over the on/off switch, and described the firing sequence to him for the tactical operator view point. He looked at me and said: “That was me.” (pregnant pause) “You’re right, that wasn’t a very good idea.” Turns out he was a retired O-6 AED Officer…from the Harpoon project office, now at in the Industrial side of the feared Military Industrical Complex. I learned me something important that day in 1979…:) Check the bios of the greybeards in suits before speaking your mind quite so directly.
