Her generation of women really had to walk a fine line. You had to be smarter than the boys but never show it. You couldn’t show too much emotion. You had to take a lot of shit, to show you were ‘one of the boys’. You couldn’t dress, or even BE too feminine, or they wouldn’t take you seriously but if you weren’t feminine ENOUGH, they’d write you off as a Lesbian.

Everyone bitches about her being cold and unemotional, but the moment she lets her guard down she gets pounced on. No wonder she’s reserved, maybe a little aloof in her interactions with strangers.

I agree with all you’ve said. And the sad thing is that she’s NOT aloof with strangers—at least she wasn’t when I met her at an event. She was warm and engaging and is the selfie queen—stood there and took selfies with anyone who asked—even did the camera work. (of course, when it was my turn, the lady behind me said she’d take the picture and got a nice image of the carpet.)
