I remember when Ms. magazine had articles about ‘letting’ lesbians into the women’s movement. And not-very-flattering discussions (limited and one-sided) of women of color.

I once tried to get through my mother’s racism by appealing to her knowledge of the barriers she had to deal with as a woman (she was born in 50, so she knows about not being able to get a loan on her own). It didn’t work. She just couldn’t translate that to other people.

Trump being so brazen about it has broken through that, though.
