If the House were to follow through on impeachment, there isn’t a lot that McConnell could actually do. Most of the processes are already in place and fairly automatic. Setting out the full case, on a myriad of impeachable offenses, over the course of weeks in the House hearings and then again in the Senate trial should have an effect. Even if the Senate GOP votes for acquittal across the board… you spend the next decade or two embarrassing every one of them in every re-election campaign that they were ok with supporting the most corrupt president in American history because “he was on their team.”

If we fuck up the next election, the next decade or two will not fit any imaginable scenario.
