Good article. Isn’t it odd how people find it hard to grasp that demonizing the profit motive tends to drive away venture capital and reduce innovation?

People also simply don’t get how innovation and discovery works — all the unknown unknowns in the equation, and huge risks involved. They just take medical/technological progress for granted, business environment and incentives or disincentives be damned. “The Black Swan” should be required reading for anyone who comes up with health-care masterplans.
