re: #219 dragonfire1981

As a follow up to my page yesterday, I did some sombering math.

As a rough estimate, I assumed each of the Ammo cabinets in the photos posted can hold somewhere around 50 000 rounds.

Assuming that every Wal-Mart, Bass Pro and Dick’s Sporting Goods in the country have similarly empty cabinets, that means that approximately 185 million rounds of ammunition have been purchased over the past month.

If that’s not worrying enough, consider this:

- My numbers do not include other gun stores of which there are thousands across the country

- My numbers do not include gun shows, of which there are many around the country

- My numbers do not include online ammo sales, which I’m sure have been booming since Newtown

Factoring that in, we can safely say there is well over 300 million rounds of ammunition that’s been purchased in the past month…and even that may be an underestimate.

If you’re still not worried enough, consider one more thing:

- Gun buyers are still salivating for more ammo.

Here’s why the ammo cabinets were empty locally.
